Proof: equivalent fractions. By definition, B times A over B equals A. Multiply both sides by C. By the associative law, regroup B and C. So A over B equals A times C over B times C.
The numerator and denominator can both be multiplied by C. Equivalent Fractions. By the rule, A over B equals A times C over B times C. So one half equals one times two
over two times two, equals two fourths. And one half equals one times three over two times three, equals three sixths. One half, the whole divided into two equal parts.
Two fourths, the same whole divided into four equal parts. Three sixths, the same whole divided into six equal parts. One half equals two fourths, equals three sixths.
